We explain how we run this joint so there are no hidden surprises, unexpected problems, mis-understandings, or reading between the lines. We are now formally Gypsies Do It Better dba Retro Kitten Apparel, and informally just Retro Kitten Apparel, or RKA. You can still reach us by either name or URL: www.retrokittenapparel.com or www.gypsiesdoitbetter.com, and you may still see us listed as both during search engine searches, etc.

Paypal is the #1 online payment processing center used by Ebay and many other reputable web sites, and it's free! You do not need a Paypal account to purchase our merchandise through Paypal, but many customers find that it is very useful as it allows you the freedom and security of shopping online anywhere Paypal is accepted, which is just about everywhere. This is yet another way we can ensure our customers a safe and reliable atmosphere to shop! We are just as concerned about your safety while shopping with us as you are!

ACCEPTED FORMS OF PAYMENT


We have chosen Paypal, a safe and secure online payment center, to process all payments. Paypal is not just an online bank, but a very safe and secure payment processing center that protects it's customers. You can choose to open a Paypal account and have your very own online bank and payment processing center, or you can use your personal debit or credit card on Paypal to purchase merchandise from us. Also, Paypal has a great protection plan in place, and a dispute center that is easily accessed.

YOU DO NOT NEED A PAYPAL ACCOUNT TO ORDER OUR MERCHANDISE.

While going through our checkout process, you will be taken to Paypal to enter your payment information safely and securely.

*The payment processing steps (as outlined below) on Paypal only ensure that your account is valid and you have the money available in your account. Your payment will simply be in the pending status until you have reviewed your order (the next step after the payment process) and click on the button on the Review Order page to send the order through (*more information is outlined below the payment processing steps).

If you do not have a Paypal account, or do not wish to use your Paypal account at the time, simply enter your personal debit or credit card information on the left of the page and hit continue to begin the payment process. If you do have a Paypal account, Paypal will detect that you do and ask you if you'd like log in. Simply choose not to log in and continue on with the payment process steps.

If you do have a Paypal account, and wish to use it, simply log in on the right and follow the payment processing steps.

*After your payment has been validated, you will be taken back to our checkout page where you will review your order and click on the button at the bottom to send your order through. You will then see your confirmation page. Once you get to the confirmation page your payment will be processed and the transaction will be compete. If you do not send your order through on the review page, or get to the confirmation page, your order will not be processed and your account will not be charged.

HOW TO PLACE AN ORDER


When you are finished adding all items to our virtual shopping cart, click on View Cart, unless you are already in your cart - not literally, this isn't the kind of cart you can just climb into and have someone push you up and down the isles, and follow the instructions below:

1. FILL OUT ALL OF THE FIELDS - don't forget your phone number and email address as those are easy to miss. Choose the shipping method you want and hit the "apply" button in green to apply the shipping method. If you have a discount code enter it in the coupon field on this page (be sure to check our home page for any sales coupon codes), and hit the "apply" button in green to apply the discount. After all fields have been filled out, and you have applied your shipping method and any discount codes you will see your total costs (i.e. sub-total, shipping, tax (if within California), discount if applicable, and then total) at the top in your shopping cart section. Please be advised that only one discount can be applied to each individual order (i.e. if you use a sales discount code, you cannot get free shipping on orders over $99, etc.). If you wish to add more merchandise, click on the "continue shopping" button just below the shopping cart near the top of the page. If you want to remove an item click on the "remove" link below the item's title. If you are satisfied with your order, hit the "Continue" button in red at the bottom of the page to the right. If you have missed a *required field you will be unable to leave this page until all required information has been entered.

2. Next, you will go to our payment page. Here you will have the option of entering your personal credit card information to the left of the screen, or you can log into your Paypal account, if you have one and wish to use it for this transaction, to the right of the screen. You do not need a Paypal account to make your purchase. *If have a Paypal account, but choose not to use it, Paypal will detect your account and ask you if you would like to log in. Just choose to continue without signing in. After entering your payment information, either via your personal credit card, or your Paypal account, click on the "Order Review" button at the bottom.

3. You will then be taken to our "Review Order" page. After reviewing your order click on the "Send Order" button in red at the bottom. If your order went through you will now be looking at the "Confirmation" page now, and you will also receive an "Order Confirmation" email. If you do not receive the "Confirmation" email, check your bank account, or Paypal account, to see if the funds were processed then contact us immediately to ensure we received your order. If you do receive the confirmation email and get to the confirmation page at the end of checkout then everything went through and you can expect your order to be shipped out within 5 business days! It all seems a little complicated, but it really is very easy and our checkout process takes you step by step through 4 simple pages: the first: your shopping cart, address, shipping, coupon, phone number, and email address; the second, payment processing with your credit card or Paypal account, the third is your order review page, and the fourth is your confirmation page.

*If there was an error, and you did not get the "Confirmation" page, or the "Confirmation" email, your order and payment were not processed. First, ensure you have the funds available on your credit card, or Paypal account, then either go through the same process again, or contact us and we can help you.

Validating Your Order

After placing your order using our secure online shopping cart, we will check the information you give us for validity, by verifying your method of payment and shipping address. After we have completed a review, we will either accept or deny your order. You will be notified upon completion of review, if your order has been denied, via an email stating the reason(s) for denial. If fraud is suspected, you will be notified then if any action will be taken.

Order Acceptance/Confirmation

Your receipt of an electronic, or other form of "Order Confirmation", does not signify our acceptance of your order, nor does it constitute confirmation of our offer to sell merchandise to you. Retro Kitten Apparel reserves the right to accept or decline your order for any reason at any time.

In order to protect us, we cannot ship large orders to a Post Office Box or Drawer, and we will need a physical address to ship your order to. If your order is marked as "Pending Review" we will ship your order upon transaction clearance from your bank, and any orders requesting expedited shipping will be shipped only after the review is completed. If we feel you have committed a crime during your transaction, or the transaction is fraudulent, we reserve the right to refuse to do business with you. We will report all fraudulent activity to the Police Department immediately.

Sales Tax Policy

Retro Kitten Apparel is required to collect sales tax in California, U.S.A. at the rate in effect at the time you place your order. The state tax rate will be calculated during the ordering process. Sales tax is subject to change as rates fluxuate.

SHIPPING POLICY


Everyone is welcome to shop at Retro Kitten Apparel! We ship worldwide via USPS and UPS!

Free Priority Shipping is available on orders within the USA that total $99 and over! Please note that only one discount, coupon, or credit code can be applied to an order (i.e. if you use a sales discount code, you cannot also use the free shipping code, etc.). *Also, see our Fraud warning below.


We ship Monday through Friday, excluding weekends and holidays. Due to our growing clientele, please allow up to one week for in-house order processing before your order is shipped. That includes both Parcel Post and Priority Mail orders. We are only a two man operation, and sometimes it's just me alone. The only exception to this rule is for Expedited and Express orders, which will be processed in-house within 24 hours. Thanks for your patience!

Tracking

You will be sent a link in your Order Confirmation email, which will allow you to track the status of your order in-house. After your order is packaged and shipped, you can track your parcel via one of the following links: USPS, UPS, or Paypal.

We utilize our local USPS (United States Postal Service) for most shipping needs as we have found it to be the most cost efficient and reliable way to ship our merchandise. However, in an effort to better serve you, we have integrated with UPS (United Parcel Service) and now offer 3 day delivery and Worldwide Express, which offers real time charges, tracking, and shipment updates. Some areas are currently unavailable for UPS.

All terms, conditions, and amounts are subject to change without notice, at any time.

Please note: We fully reserve the right not to ship to any unconfirmed Paypal addresses.

If we are required to verify your address and payment information with the bank that issues your credit card, this will delay the processing of your order significantly.

Retro Kitten Apparel practices strict fraud prevention policies.

If your order appears fraudulent, we will ask you to provide us with further verification of your credit card. *Note: An email response from you is not verification. We must have proof that you are the owner of the card before we will continue to process your order.

Web stores like ours are vulnerable to chargeback’s from customers using credit cards fraudulently. For your protection, as well as ours, we may require that your order be shipped to your billing address if the items ordered are especially valuable, if an American Express card was used, or if a Post Office Box is listed as the shipping address.

We reserve the right to refuse service or cancel any orders that appear suspicious or fraudulent at our discretion. All fraudulent transactions are investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law. Again, we fully reserve the right not to ship to any unconfirmed Paypal addresses. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Note about FPO/APO and P.O. Boxes

UPS does not offer service to APO/FPO addresses or P.O. Boxes - Please select USPS. All P.O. box and FPO/APO orders will ship via USPS no matter the delivery method selected at checkout.

Orders exceeding $75 in value, large orders, and all orders purchased with American Express are shipped requiring signature confirmation - You will have to sign for your package. In addition, we reserve the right to send any packages via signature confirmation if we deem it necessary due to known issues with theft in certain neighborhoods or in large metropolitan areas.

Shipping Times

Parcel Post: 3 to 7 business days for in-house processing + 6 to 9 mailing days until delivery.

Priority Mail: 3 to 7 business days for in-house processing + 2 to 3 mailing days until delivery.

Express Mail: 1 business days for in-house processing + 1 to 2 mailing days until delivery depending upon your location.

These are estimated times only!! We are not responsible for any delays due to the postal delivery service.

Shipping Insurance

We highly recommend that you purchase shipping insurance, as we are not responsible for any lost, damaged, miss-deliveries, or unreliable postal service in your country, or signature confirmation due to theft concerns in your neighborhood.

If you need shipping insurance or signature confirmation added to your order you must arrange these extra services before you make your purchase. We are working on adding an insurance and signature confirmation option to our checkout page, but for now please contact us at 1-805-234-6159 or 1-805-473-1398 or by email at retrokittenapparel@yahoo.com or gypsiesdoitbetter@yahoo.com before placing your order so we can add the extra cost of insurance to the cost of the item, and note your account as to what the extra cost is for, to ensure insurance/signature confirmation is added.

We are not responsible for your package once it is in the hands of the Postal or Parcel Service.

Customers will be sent a link in your Order Confirmation email where you may check the status of your order on our site. You may also track your parcel at USPS or UPS.

International Customers

International orders are shipped via USPS International First Class, USPS International Priority, USPS International Express, and UPS Worldwide Saver for most countries.

International Shipping Times

First Class International Mail: 3 to 7 business days for in-house processing + unsure delivery time please use tracking information to track your shipment.

Priority International Mail: 3 to 7 business days for in-house processing + 4 to 7 days for delivery.

Express International Mail: 3 to 7 business days for in-house processing + 3 to 5 days for delivery.

These are estimated times only!! We are not responsible for any delays due to customs or the postal delivery service in your country.

In-Store Pickup

If you are local to the Central Coast of California you can pick up your order, upon approval, at our warehouse in Arroyo Grande, Ca. with an authorized pick-up date and time. Please do not just drop by, as this is our warehouse and you will not be able to pick up your order.

Choose "In-Store Pickup" as your shipping option. You can note in the comments section of our checkout page, or email us with your availability to pick your order up. We will notify you via email or telephone within 24-48 hours (not including weekends & holidays) whether you have been approved for pick-up, and our availability. Upon confirmation of your pick-up appointment, you will be given directions to our warehouse.

**FRAUD WARNING REGARDING FREE SHIPPING METHOD**


Please do not use our free shipping code if your order does not qualify for it. You must order $99 or more merchandise to qualify for free shipping, you must live within the U.S.A. If you choose to violate this policy, we will not refund your money and we will not ship your order until we receive the shipping costs.

Packages Returned by Postal Carrier

In the event that a package is deemed undeliverable by the post office, and returned to us, we will attempt to contact the customer 3 times, via telephone and/or email over a 21 day period. After failure to contact all undeliverable merchandise will be returned to the floor for sale.

If the package was undeliverable due to a postal error, and the address is correct, the post office should reship the package at no additional cost. We will attempt to reship the order with our next shipment.

We have chosen a very secure online shopping cart with many features that protect ourselves, and the customer, from information input errors such as incorrect addresses, or not filling in any required fields such as a telephone number, and/or any fraudulent activity. Therefore, it is very unlikely that any shipping errors will rest with you, the customer, or us, the store. However, in the event that the customer does make an input error, moved, or any unforeseen problem occurs on the customer's behalf, please read the following information:

In the event that a package is deemed undeliverable due to an error by the customer, she or he will be responsible for re-shipping costs. Upon receipt of reshipping costs, we will attempt to reship the order with our next shipment.

In the event the customer refuses to pay re-shipping costs, and the delivery error rests with her or him, we will not reship the order and no refund/store credit will be given. Please note that all undeliverable merchandise will be returned to the floor for resale.

In the event that we are unable to contact the customer within 21 days of our first attempt, we will not reship the order and no refund/store credit will be available. All undeliverable merchandise will be returned to the floor for resale.

Please note that, due to most garments being used, there are bound to be flaws no matter how minute. We thoroughly inspect each garment or item to the best of our ability, and list any major flaws (i.e. missing buttons, tears, runs, broken zippers, stains, etc.) in the "Product Description" section. However, it is not humanly possible to see every minor snag, loose hem, or flaw. We post one or more photos that can be enlarged so you can inspect the garment as well, but keep in mind colors may differ on computer monitors. Any item(s) you are requesting to be returned for a minor flaw that was not listed in the description will not be authorized for a cash return, only store credit. Only items with major flaws, or incorrect measurements of 1/4" will be considered for a cash refund and it will be at our discretion. We keep complete records of each and every item including additional up close photos for our review in respect to return requests for our protection. Please see our "Authorized Cash Refunds Returns" section below. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us. We're here to help!

Most returns are due to fit issues. We list measurements for our garments in the "Description" of each garment to the best of our ability in addition to listing measurement instructions on our "Size Chart" page. Please check the garment's measurements against a similar garment of your own. Our size guides, tips, and instructions aren't an exact science, but they are there to help. Some garments have an incorrect size listed on the tag, and our vintage garments use a different sizing method than today's garments. Therefore, we do our best to list all appropriate measurements for you to avoid problems.

If an item does not have a particular measurement, photo angle, missing information important to you, etc. please contact us for help before making your purchase to ensure a pleasurable transaction.

We never accept lingerie returned for any reason! This includes hosiery, socks, panties, any boxed or packaged lingerie that includes panties, thongs or g-strings. However, corsets, waist cinchers, and petticoats and crinolines may be acceptable as long as they do not include panties, thongs, or g-strings within a set. If you aren't sure about ordering lingerie, please ask so we both can have a pleasurable transaction. We carry some of the finest vintage lingerie in the U.S.A, and many Pin-up models have purchased some extraordinary pieces!

We want you to be super happy with every item you purchase from us. If you are not satisfied with an item you have purchased, you may return it within 14 business days of receipt of your order for store credit. Please follow our complete return instructions.

You must request authoriztion to return any item and you have 3 days to request a return, and 14 business days to return your item(s) for store credit. After 14 days, your return will be subject to a 20% restocking fee. Returns are not accepted after 20 days (exceptions made for international customers so please contact us regarding returns).

Please allow up to 2 weeks for all returns to be processed. We will contact you within 2 weeks and advise you as to whether you will be receiving a refund for your return, or whether we have denied your request, along with instructions for both situations. If you haven't received an email within 2 weeks, check your bulk / spam folder first, then contact us.

Store credit applies toward merchandise only, not shipping Paypal fees, customs, duties, etc. Any shipping charges will not be credited, and are the responsibility of the customer. Therefore, please make any inquiries necessary before placing your order.

*We do not honor promotional discounts after a sale is over. Please take advantage of our sales and promotions during their specified time frames. If you return an item that was on sale, your discount does not apply toward future orders.

Return Instructions

If you have been approved for a cash refund please see our "Authorized Cash Refund Returns" section below

1. Please request authorization for any/all returns within 3 days of receiving your order via email or by phone.

If authorization is not approved for the return, do not attempt to return the merchandise. We will not accept CODs (Cash On Delivery). Any returns received unauthorized will be returned to the floor for sale and no refunds/store credit will be given. You can opt to have the package returned to you at your shipping cost along with an additional convenience fee of $10 for re-packaging, our supplies, our gas to post office, our time, and our inconvenience.

2. If authorization for the return is approved, please pack the item securely. If returning footwear: Do not apply tape or labels directly to the shoe box (if applicable), or otherwise damaging any garment or you will not receive credit. If returning jewelry: package the jewelry safely to ensure it doesn't break during shipment. All items must be returned in its original packaging when applicable (i.e. shoe boxes, costume packages with cardboard picture of model in costume, etc., but you don't have to use the same standard mailing box from the post office, only merchandise packaging specific to the item), unworn and unwashed, all tags must still be attached (if applicable), and all paperwork, parts, manuals and accessories must accompany your return, clearly indicate the item(s) you are returning on the packing slip you received when we sent you your order (you can make a copy if you aren't returning the entire order), and your reason for returning it. If your items come back without paperwork, we won't know who you are and you won't get store credit. Incomplete returns will not be credited. Any item(s) returned as COD (Cash On Delivery) will be refused!

3. Upon receipt of the returned items, we will thoroughly inspect each item to decide whether store credit should be authorized. This will be at our discretion, as all items must be returned in the original condition as was when originally sent to you, unworn and unwashed, tags still be attached (if applicable).

Any item(s) refused to be credited or refunded, after inspection, will become your responsibility and you will need to pay for the item(s) to be shipped back to you. Otherwise, the item will be returned to the floor without refund.

* Anything returns requested, or received after an authorized request, after 20 days will be will be subject to a 20% re-stocking fee. If you are unsure about the timeframe, please contact us. Communication is key!

4. Store Credit will be issued in the form of a coupon code word, which will be emailed to you. You will receive one coupon code word, in the amount of the store credit authorized for the return, per order. Shipping fees are non-refundable and will not be included in your store credit. All shipping fees are your responsibility.

"Store Credit" Options

First Option: If you receive store credit in the amount of $30 or below, you must use your store credit in one increment (all at once), and any unused credit remaining will no longer be available to you.

Second Option: If you receive store credit in the amount of $30.01 or above, you can choose to use it in one increment or two increments. However, you must request to divide your store credit into two increments prior to placing your first "store credit" order. Otherwise, your store credit will be issued in one increment, and you will be subject to using the entire amount of store credit at one time and any remaining credit will no longer be available to you. Usually, requests for store credit to be divided into two increments is due to your first "store credit order" totalling $30.00 or less.

So, before placing your first "store credit order" contact us via email at retrokittenapparel@yahoo.com, or by telephone at 805-234-6159 or 805-473-1398 and request your store credit to be divided into two increments. You can use each increment in any amount without going over the store credit amount you have. If you find that you are going over your store credit limit, you must remove purchase those items seperately in a "non store credit" order. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at the contact information above. Telephone calls are accepted between 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time only.*

*Customs, duties, taxes, postage and other related charges are the sole responsibility of the customer and cannot be refunded or credited. We will reimburse you for any postage (within reason) if an error occurred when filling your order.

Authorized Cash Refund Returns

In the event that we grossly miss-represent an item and you would like to return it, please contact us for authorization within 3 days of receipt of your order. If the return is authorized, we will send you a pre-paid return shipping label. We will not reimburse any unauthorized shipping costs over and above what we would pay for any pre-paid shipping label via our USPS account. Upon receipt of the item(s) in its original condition (after inspection at our discretion), we will refund your money along with your original shipping costs, and any applicable sales tax (for California, U.S. residents) via the payment method originally used to purchase the item.

You may also choose to receive store credit, or exchange the item for an item of equal the amount originally paid, and we will ship it to you are our cost.

In the event that we inadvertently ship you the wrong item, please contact us for authorization within 3 days of receipt of your order. If the return is authorized, we will send you a pre-paid return shipping label. We will not reimburse any unauthorized shipping costs over and above what we would pay for any pre-paid shipping label via our USPS account. Upon receipt of the returned item in its original condition (we will inspect and decide at our discretion), we will ship you the correct item(s) promptly at our expense.

Exchanges

If you would like to exchange any item ordered for another available item at our store, before it ships to you of equal value, we would be happy to do so.

If you would like to exchange an item after your order ships, please follow our return policy noted above, and you will be responsible for any/all shipping costs.

If you are going to receive store credit for an authorized exchange or return, and you have your heart set on something in our store equal, or lesser, the amount of due credit, we would be happy to put that item on hold while the return or exchange process is completed. We usually only have one of each item or size and when its gone, its gone. The return/exchange process can take several days to complete. However, please be sure that is the item you want as you will be bound to honor your commitment to purchase that item, or no store credit will be given. One-of-a-kind garments are in demand and we cannot hold any item(s) without a commitment to buy.

LAY-AWAY


We offer free lay-away on our more expensive items and larger orders over $50 only. Just contact us with the items you want; pay a $20 deposit that is deducted from your balance; and pay off your balance within 60 days. Please read the following policy all the way through outlining how our lay-away plan works and what happens if you don't follow through with our lay-away agreement plan.

How To Start A Lay-Away Account

If you are interested in putting an item, or items, totaling $50 and over on lay-away you must contact us to set up a free lay-away account. You must put $20 down to open your lay-away account, which goes towards your total. There are no fees for lay-away. We will calculate your lay-away total including priority shipping and any applicable tax (if you live in California). You will receive a "Lay-Away Agreement" invoice noting your information, our information, each item with a tiny picture, it's cost, item #, subtotal, priority shipping, tax (within CA), and the total, along with the date you opened your lay-away account, and the date it must be paid off. You will need to reply to the emailed invoice agreeing to the "Lay-Away Agreement". You have 60 days to pay off your lay-away balance. Once you put an item(s) on lay-away, you are bound to buy them.

Failure To Follow Through With Your Lay-Away Agreement

If you cannot pay off your lay-away balance within 60 days of opening your lay-away account, or you decide you no longer want the items you put on lay-away, we will calculate what you have already paid and advise you of that amount, along with a printout of this policy. You will have to decide what items you want to keep out of your lay-away order, as your money is non-refundable, cannot be traded for store credit, and you cannot exchange any items in lay-away for other items in our store. Then, we will calculate the shipping of those items via priority mail only, and add a 20% restocking fee for each item you've decided not to keep, and we will advise you of your new options. You will again need to decide what you want to keep after the new total. If any money is due to complete your transaction, after receiving the new total, you will have to pay the money due before your order ships. If you choose to keep an item, or items, and there is any remaining money that you paid, you will not be refunded that money, as it is non-refundable.

Why We Set Up Lay-Away

Our lay-away plan is set up to help you get an item, or items, that you really want, but when you don't have the money right then to buy it. Due to our first come first service policy, we have set up a lay-away plan to allow you to get items your really want in that event. We do not charge any "lay-away fees", only a $20 deposit, which is deducted from your balance. Some stores charge a 10% fee just to set up a lay-away account, but we don't.

Our lay-away policy is set up to protect us from irresponsible shoppers. Due to us holding our merchandise aside for you instead of being unavailable for other shoppers to purchase, you will be responsible for a 20% restocking fee for any unpaid for merchandise in your lay-away order, and your money is non-refundable.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD

Attention, Please!


Any charge-backs to credit cards without communicating with us first are treated as fraudulent. All details, including original order form, username, IP addresses and access logs bearing members IP addresses and/or e-mail addresses and username will be forwarded to the issuing Credit Card Company (Fraud Division), F.B.I. (Credit Card Fraud Division) and all Credit Reference Agencies which will probably result in a query into members credit card payment habits. Credit Card Fraud is a serious crime and will not be tolerated. If we feel you have committed a crime during your transaction, or the transaction is fraudulent, we reserve the right to refuse to do business with you. We will report all fraudulent activity to the Police Department and as noted above.

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at anytime.

BUYING POLICY


Retro Kitten Apparel is a second-hand shop not a consignment store and we do not accept trade-ins for merchandise. We do, however, buy clothing, shoes, and accessories on occasion.

1. All merchandise must be in good condition (i.e. no broken zippers, missing buttons, rips, or repairs required, etc.).

2. All merchandise must meet strict criteria (i.e. brand, quality, demand, market, etc.) and ultimately whether we want it.

3. All merchandise must fit somewhere within the Alternative or Vintage style category (i.e. Vintage, Retro, Punk, Pin-up, Rockabilly, Psychobilly, Gothic, Skinhead, Mod, or any sub-group).

4. We reserve the right to refuse to do business with anyone at anytime, and the following prices are subject to change without notice.

Any other items not listed will be considered and verbally priced. We are not always buying, but we will advise you at the time of contact. If we are buying we can make an appointment to inspect the merchandise in Arroyo Grande, Ca. or, if you are local, we do make house calls/pick-ups.

BARTER & TRADE


We are also available to locals for bartering trading merchandise! If you have a closet full of retro, rockabilly, vintage, pin-up, or punk clothing, shoes, and accessories, and you see something you like on our site, we might be willing to do a little bartering with you. However, some of our more expensive, or unique items are not available for barter so please contact us to discuss your ideas, and, if reasonable, we will make an appointment to meet. Please no ridiculous requests! We refuse to respond to any unreasonable offers so please do not waste your time or ours. Let's make this a pleasurable experience for everyone! RKA Street Team Guidelines

A Street team is: “a group of people who 'hit the streets' promoting a particular company, brand, or band. A modern version of a credible "cool" field marketer promoting a company for free [I offer a point system for free merchandise] with the ability to create hype for that company through credible peer-to-peer interactions and viral word-of-mouth influence in their communities.

Usually, a street team is formed by a loyal fan base who can get into key markets through strong street hype and "street-cred", and try to get on the local radio stations through hype/word-of-mouth.”

• Retro Kitten Apparel (RKA) Street Teamers:

I am putting together a street team consisting of cats of all ages ranging from teens to geriatrics! Anyone with a strong influence over their peers, and whom are looked to for what's hot, what's next, or where to get what are welcome to apply! Members must be enthusiastic, professional, articulate, friendly, honest, respectful, and up-to-date on RKA inventory, events, and information.

I am looking for a credible street team in order to promote my store and make it more visible through word-of-mouth, blogging, bulletins, flyers, stickers, business cards, models, and friends. RKA has a lot to offer and we need to get the word out! RKA's street team members must be willing to work hard at getting people into my store (onto my website) and buying merchandise.

RKA WILL NOT BE ASSOCIATED WITH, NOR WILL RKA TOLERATE ANY ILLEGAL ACTIONS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

You will be banned from the street team if anyone is caught doing anything illegal, harmful, distasteful, or otherwise while promoting RKA! I retain the right to take away your membership at anytime.

This is not a job, and you are not an employee of RKA. RKA's street team is comprised of fans who become members like any club and who volunteer their time to promote RKA. However, you will be rewarded for your promotional efforts, especially for any sales RKA generates on your behalf, via a point system as noted below.

One great perk of being a RKA street team member is that it isn't all work and no play. I want my street team promoting at punk shows, car shows, roller derbies, clubs, concerts, and anywhere punks, rockabillys, goths, and alternative cats gather. This is a great opportunity to meet new friends and have lots of fun!

The concept is a group of street team members dedicated to promoting RKA while enjoying themselves. Street teams will work together inside and outside of their homes. Promotion is unlimited as far as where to promote RKA: at school, your job, at shows, hanging out, while walking down the boulevard, under a bridge, online, in line wherever you see someone you think might enjoy RKA gear! Usually street teams are unpaid fans, but I offer free clothes on a point system.

• Street Team Point System:

I maintain a charted point system for each street team member. As you earn points, you will be able to “buy” merchandise from RKA with your points. Points are assigned to an individual for a particular action - the better the action (such as a sale for me) the more points you earn. Each applicant will receive points per actions list. Points can be used at RKA anytime for any item. They don’t go away, unless you “spend” em. If you want to save your points to buy something later, go ahead. If your points are “burnin a hole in your pocket”, and you want to spend em as soon as you get em, go ahead (I have $1 items in my clearance section). It’s up to you! However, you must have the points to use em. There is no “credit” given, and you cannot put something “on hold” until you earn enough points.

1 point = $1 towards store credit

Street team members will meet once a month to discuss campaign strategies, explore ways to create peer influence, elevate sales, share stories and ideas, and generally catch up, straighten out kinks, and discuss what’s been happening or coming up.

I have a warehouse sale two or more times a year when I need to move out the old and stale to make room for the new and tasty. If you want to volunteer your time to help me set up, conduct, surveillance, and put away for these sales you will earn points.

Street Teamers can do the following to promote RKA:

• Place stickers and posters up in your communities (nowhere that would be considered illegal)

• Bring friends to the RKA website

• Convince friends to buy RKA merchandise

• Phone your local radio stations for a chance to plug RKA (but not excessively). You mustn’t be annoying!

• Bring business cards, stickers, etc. into clubs, concerts, shows, events where punks gather, and pass em out

• Put up flyers (again, nowhere illegal)

• Post to forums, blogs, and bulletin boards online

• Maintain zines or websites either created by RKA or by you dedicated to Retro Kitten Apparel

If you have a suggestion for marketing, please get authorization from me before you do anything other than the above. Most likely I will be excited about the new idea, but sometimes I might decline.

Also, I am an artist and love to meet new artists! If you are an artist and think you could create a great flyer, poster, picture, or ad about RKA please feel free to do so. You can submit it to me via the email address below, and, if it isn't too explicit, I will post it on RKA!
